 | Group boosts Social life of young adults
A SOCIAL group in Banbury is challenging the idea the town has little to offer young people.
Banbury 18 Plus, an activity group for anyone aged 18 to 35, is organising a range of events with a view to recruiting new people. Past activities include Sunday lunches, basketball, country walks, bowling, poker, caving, films and quizzes.
Dot Sallis, founder of Banbury 18 Plus, said: "All the people that have come through the door have said there's not a lot to do in Banbury so they're glad they joined."
Dot now lives in Coventry, but travels back to Banbury every week for the meetings.
"It still feels like home to me here." she said. "We've all made a lot of friends through the organisation because we go to national events as well."
It costs £28 a year to join, which entitles you to visit any 18 Plus group in the country.
The Banbury branch has ten members at the moment. Meetings are on Tuesdays at The Unicorn pub, Market Place, Banbury, from 8.30pm.

| Wednesday March 13th saw some members of Banbury 18 Plus go down to Culham near Oxford for a talk by Heather Couper, the astronomer, author and TV presenter about extra-terrestrial life. The talk covered what they might be like, where to find them, can we communicate with them, and more besides. On top of all this, we got our photo taken with Heather. | |
