Welcome to.............

On 20th October 1920 a group of local men met behind 'The Black's Head' pub in Bletchington, Oxfordshire to discuss the formation of a brass band. By the end of the evening the 'Bletchington Prize Band' had been formed, this is still our official name. The first complete set of instruments cost £10 and was collected from a neighbouring village, whose band had folded, by horse and cart.

Where Are We?

We are based in the small village of Bletchington which is on the B4027 just North of Kidlington.

We rehearse in the Village Hall on Tuesday and Friday Evenings from 7.30p.m. Our Friday rehearsal includes a training band which runs from 6.30p.m to 7.30p.m

The aim of the training band is to encourage players of any age or standard to have a go at making music. Once a month or so, the training band sits in on a rehearsal with the main band. This helps give the training band an idea of where they are heading.
If you are an accomplished payer or just fancy having a go at playing a brass instrument come along to rehearsal and introduce yourself and have a blow!
