Ancient Chapel of Bartlemas
This is one of East Oxford's best kept secrets! This medieval chapel was built for an ancient leper hospital - which is all there was of East Oxford until the 19th century. It can be found up the little lane between the new Vicarage (271 Cowley Rd) and the East Oxford bowls green (opposite the bingo hall).
The chapel is used for occasional services:
BCP evensong at 5.15pm on the last Sunday of each month (except Dec.)
Throughout the summer: Morning Liturgy (combined Morning Prayer and Eucharist) Wednesdays at 7.30am.
The chapel is also used for occasional concerts, art exhibitions, etc. |
