· January 2001, the Campaign for a Democratically Elected Mayor for Oxford known as Demox, starts its efforts to achieve 5000 signatures of support from local residents in Oxford by the end of February 2001, as part of a campaign to trigger a referendum. · April 2001 Bus company bosses begin serious discussions for introduction of real time information displays, which update passengers minute-by-minute on arrival times.
· May 2001, County and maybe National elections.
· June 2001, preliminary work begins on doubling the size of Thornhill Park and Ride to 945 parking spaces, in order to cope with the rise in commuter parking. Discussions continue on proposed new town and funding for new sta-tions for Oxfordshire. Contact: http://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/main/
· December 2001, UK begins making serious plans for a referendum on the Euro.
