The Destruction of Headington Hill Park
Residents of Jack Straw's Lane are up in arms about the state of Headington Hill Park. There is much disquiet at the conversion of the Park in question into a Memorial Park for the dear departed, through the planting of inappropriate plants in the name of various causes. This policy residents argues, are against the historic context and original planting scheme of the Park's creators.
It is felt by readers that this current policy has turned the Park designed by James Morrell http://www.any-town.co.uk/H/Headington/Texts/Buildings_HillHall.asp from an arboretum to that of an overgrown garden centre that it has deterioted to this day. This has happerned it is argued because there has been no coherent planting policy in operation, which has led to damage to the original design and the planting of inappropriate plants.
