Lights went out in Headington
Parts of Headington suffered power cuts, it is said an area from the Bye-pass to Windmill Rd was pitched into darkness, at the time of writing the reasons are still unknown. The power cut started at about 8pm, the electricity company worked very hard to rectify the problem. So that within an hour Headington again was a blaze of light. For many this brownout gave people a opportunity for the first time for people to see the stars clearly at night without all the usual light pollution. The JR Hospital with its own generators blazed with light, like a lighthouse, while in many houses lights from candles blazed dimly. |
