Linda’s Tibetan Challenge for MENCAP
Glamorous Linda will be cutting a dash on the dance floor, as part of the MENCAP charity auction and disco, she is organising. Linda John, manager of the Queen of Hearts Bakery is running this event at the Windmill Rd, Conservative Club, 7:30pm, Friday 9 March 2001.
Flamboyant Linda, never one to do things by half, will in May, be taking part in a MENCAP 12 day charity challenge across the spectacular scenery of Tibet, trekking over passes, often at altitudes of 5,000 metres. Lucky Linda will not be alone on her trek. Around the country 90 eager volunteers are hard at work each trying to raise at least £ 2,500 for MENCAP.
How can you help Linda John in her valiant efforts to raise funds that aid MENCAP in its vital work to provide the people with learning difficulties best chance to lead a full and active life?
Like Linda’s employers, the Queen of Hearts Bakery, you can make a direct contribution to the address below. They have given a generous £250 to start the ball rolling; many local businesses and residents have also contributed, not only in cash, but also in providing goods and services to help Linda in her fund raising efforts.
In addition you can donate gifts to be auctioned or bid for a trip in a Fox FM helicopter, a steam train or a boat. Other gifts include a signed copy of local author’s Colin Dexter latest ‘Inspector Morse’ book, tickets to the Oxford Playhouse and lots more. Afterwards you might want to dance the night away.
