Double your time for money as you surf the Net in Headington Library

Prices have come down! As from April 2001 you can now surf the Net at Headington Library for 50p for 10 minutes! If you have never had a go on the Internet, or you are a self confessed surfer, the Library has a self service terminal available for the public to use. Some of the sites you can access are free these include the BBC website, Rail Track to check train timetables, the British Library Catalogue etc. If you want to try to read something a bit different why not visit Book Forager, another free site on offer. It is certainly a new and unique way to choose your next read. From a range of recent contemporary titles it can match you to a really good read according to your mood, the types of characters you would like to appear in the book and even down to the place the story is set. So come in and have some fun!

Carnival Mania for children at Headington Library!

Calling all children aged between four and eleven. If you enjoy reading and would like a challenge for the Summer Holidays why not join in with the Reading Carnival?

We are challenging you to read six or more books during the Summer Holidays collecting postcards as you read, and if you complete the challenge you will be rewarded with a medal, a certificate and a goody bag!

The Carnival atmosphere will continue during the Summer. We will be inviting children to help decorate the library in a Carnival theme and children’s events are in the process of being planned for the holidays. Publicity for these will be going up at the beginning of July so keep your eyes peeled.

There will also be the opportunity to join in with voting for the Blue Peter Book Awards, details of which will be announced on Blue Peter late June time.

There now you have no excuse for being bored during those long Summer holidays!
