An interview with Annie Sloan who says," its all magic”

For over 25 years Annie Sloan has worked her magic in so many peoples lives, by transforming their homes into virtual pleasure domes for her clients. Headington is indeed lucky to have someone with the skills to transform a room in a house in Headington into an appearance, environment and ambience of a Roman dinning room.

When not on TV being filmed for ‘The Christopher Lowell Show’ with the Discovery Channel in LA., Annie is writing books on all aspects of interior design and decorating, her seventeenth and latest book ‘Paint Alchemy’, is due out this month. At home in Oxford she is running interior design courses ranging from how to paint furniture to creating modern paint effects.

Annie Sloan’s business is about providing the expert advice, goods and services required for interior design and decorating. As a member of the Interior Designers and decorators Association, Annie can provide you with visuals, samples of fabrics, wallpapers, carpets, trimmings, bathroom and kitchen fittings, lighting, furniture etc., for a basic consultation fee of £200. In addition IDDA members can provide, supervise and co-ordinate all sub-contractors, such as joiners, plumbers, decorators, electricians, carpet fitters and curtain makers. They can also advise on cost planning and budget control, work to agreed deadlines and assist with the purchase of antiques and works of art.

For those not able to visit Annie’s shop at 117 London Rd, Headington, Oxford, Tel: 01865-768666; you can now visit one of twenty one stockists and franchises around the county, or even purchase goods over the internet at www.anniesloan.com

ALL CHANGE AT HEADINGTON POST OFFICE

“Headington Post Office is not just somewhere to buy a stamp, post a letter or collect your pension”, says David Hunt, the Post Master in an interview by Headington Forum. He went on to say that it acts as an agent for many banks, building societies and government agencies, by providing a one-stop information advice shop for applying for licences, travel, postal and money services.
David took over Headington Post Office, some three years ago. He was ‘head hunted’ by Post Office Counters Ltd., from his Post Office business in Wallingford. Since then, David’s business has gone from strength to strength, due to his dedication to improve the services available to customers at Headington Post Office. David has already brought many changes to Headington Post Office, and he is now preparing the Post Office for further changes.

Post Office Counters Ltd., together with support from the Government and major banks are setting up a new basic banking service for customers known as the Universal Bank. It is aimed at providing banking services to the 3.5 million people who do not at present qualify for bank accounts, cash machines and direct debit.
In 2003, as part of efforts to improve services for such customers, this new Post Office service, known as the Universal Bank will enable all their customers, including those who does not have a bank account at present, to have a bank account. This will mean for people on state benefits that all payments will be made via a bank account, instead of by giro, order book or direct transfer to bank.

Access to these new bank accounts will be via smart cards with pin numbers. This new system will provide customers with an enhanced and more secure access to basic banking services and encourage people to save. David Hunt is also looking forward to the installation of computer terminals, which will provide Internet access to information and advice services provided by both and government agencies and citizen advice services.

To keep up with the new range of services, contact or visit David Hunt, Headington Post Office, 144 London Rd, Headington, Oxford, OX39JN. TEL:01865-762881
