A new Chapter is starting at New Life Community Church, as we welcome John R Jeffs as our; Pastor,
John is no Stranger to Middleton Cheney as his family can be traced back hundreds of years as was seen as he visited the village fete on Sunday 13th July, looking at a copy; of the 1841 Census he saw so many of the Jeffs family listed and was surprised to see an old School photo showing his father George as a small boy about 80+ years ago.
Being a keen sportsman he played football and cricket here,
It was in Middleton Cheney at the age of 25 that John made his first commitment to Jesus Christ; Although not having a religious background, he sought to share His faith with the local Church and Joined Middleton Cheney Baptist Church .
After a period of involvement in local Churches, John undertook Theological training, since then he has been involved in Churches across Britain.
In 1989 whilst serving as a Baptist Minister he met and; married His wife Lana Newman, in his words “To love and be loved is very special”
John could honestly say that much of the improvements that came in his life were due to the love and deep spirituality evidenced in Lana’s life.
Sometimes the best things in life are those which we have so little of, after just 8 years of Marriage in 1997, Lana was diagnosed with breast cancer,
GOD HEALS TODAY. They had seen many miracles, deaf having hearing restored, Blind receiving their sight back, Brain tumours disappearing after prayer, but as John described it at 1 am on 28th May 1998 “as I held Lana in my arms, she looked me in the eye spoke briefly and suddenly slipped into her eternal home”.
Any one who has lost someone they love know the overwhelming feelings of sadness The loss of a loved one leaves a deep scar that is not easily healed. To continue in John’s own words
“The period after Lana’s death at the age of 35 was a time of grief and sadness . It was very difficult to move from what had been our last family home together, but I began to realize that the time was now right to move, and at I felt a very strong pull back to Northamptonshire, so here after much Journeying I return to my roots
I know God has shown me His love, and has been very patient in working to change me from what I was to what I should be.
“What a wonderful God we have--he is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the one who so wonderfully comforts and strengthens us in our hardships and trials. And why does he do this? So that when others are troubled, needing our sympathy and encouragement, we can pass on to them this same help and comfort God has given us.”
My return to the village as part of the Ministry team at what has long been known as Middleton Cheney Baptist Church, will I hope, enable me to serve you and share with you the Love of God, in the trials of life that we all go through.
