Holywell Sunday 17 May - our Maggini Quartet fundraising concert for the Holywell Music Room Appeal raised over £2000. www.holywellfund.org
Our next concert at Holywell is at 3pm on Sunday 21 February 2010, when the world famous Arditti String Quartet will play Beethoven's Grosse Fuge in B flat (the original finale of his opus 130), Birtwistle's quartet 'The Tree of Strings' and Bartok's sixth and last quartet, written in the approach to World War II. The Birtwistle quartet last year won the Royal Philharmonic Society's award for best chamber-scale composition; there is an added visual element as the performers use 8 music stands and 8 seats to play it.
