Racing in Oxfordshire
County Championships, organised by Oxfordshire AA, usually take place over 3000m on the track each May.
The Southern Veterans Track and Field League includes a 2000m track walk in its program, and there is usually one or two meetings in Oxfordshire between April and August each year.
Oxfordshire racewalkers also participate occasionally in road races organised by local running clubs, for example the Motavation series organised by Kidlington RAC on various Thursday evenings during the summer, and the 5K Saturday morning races organised by Headington Roadrunners on various dates through the summer. Of course there are no racewalking judges at such events! |
Racing in the Midlands
Often Oxfordshire racewalkers travel to the Midlands, where there are a number of athletics clubs with a strong racewalking tradition, and Leamington features strongly as a regular venue for international walking races.
Oxfordshire walkers go to races at the international Leamington meetings, the Midland Winter League races on roads over distances up to 10K in November and December of each year, and other races organised by Birchfield and Coventry Godiva clubs.

Racing in London
Oxfordshire racewalkers go to the Enfield League races, held all year round approximately once a month, mainly over 5 miles but with some longer and shorter races. We have also visited London Inter-Club Challenge races, held on track over 3000m in the summer, and other races. |
