Race walk training sessions
The group does not at present organise any formal regular training sessions.
However walkers will often be found training at the following venues / times :
Tuesday evenings at Iffley Road track
Wednesday evenings at Tilsley Park, Abingdon
Thursday evenings at Marston Ferry Road

Informal racewalk training
If you would like to make contact with other race walkers for informal training sessions, please contact the webmaster. He will be happy to include contact details on this site ; to circulate your details to members of the group ; or to make personal inquires to try to find you a partner, according to your preference.
General Walking Fitness
For opportunities to improve general walking fitness, check out the Oxfordshire Ramblers Association or the Oxford Fieldpaths Society. Some workplaces and sports facilities also organise power walking groups. Of course, with these groups, you aren't judged for proper heel and toe contact and keeping your knees straight! But they provide ways of improving your general walking fitness in company with others.
Of course running (especially cross-country-running during the winter), cycling, weights work in a gym, yoga for flexibility, pilates for proprioception and core stability, and many other physical activities can bring benefits to the race walker. Contact the webmaster if you need more information.
