PHOENIX SOCIAL GROUP
The Phoenix Social Group was set up in 1989 to provide a social life for single, divorced, separated and widowed people. It is run entirely by volunteers; thus enabling costs to be kept to a minimum.
Our membership is drawn mainly from the Wallingford, Abingdon, Didcot, Wantage and Oxford areas with an age range from the forties upwards. We meet every Thursday at Royal British Legion, Harwell village. Prospective members are welcome to come to these meetings; a rota of "welcomers" is organised to put newcomers at ease and to make introductions.
Most of our social events are at weekends - there is something on practically every Saturday. During the summer there is programme of barbecues, outdoor concerts and walks, whilst in winter trips to the theatre and cinema are arranged. Other events include parties, meals, bowling, dances and holidays.
There is a small but enthusiastic Badminton Group who meet every Sunday, and are currently looking for more recruits!
If you would like more information, or are just curious, why don't you come along to our Thursday evening meeting? There is no obligation to join, and there will not be any Hard Sell! See you soon!
