The Raphael Pilgrimage to Lourdes Official Website

Aims of The Raphael Pilgrimage
(As set out by Leonard Cheshire , our Founder)
'To Take the sick and disabled to Lourdes, to care for them in every way during the Pilgrimage.

The Pilgrimage is under the spiritual guidance of our Spiritual Director, Father Leo Heakin.

The next pilgrimage will run from
Monday 7th to Friday 11th September 2009.

Pilgrimage Director - vacancy

PILGRIMAGE DIRECTOR
(Honorary)
This is a unique, challenging and exciting opportunity for a committed and experienced person with vision and enthusiasm to organise and lead our pilgrimage to Lourdes in Sept 09 (and in subsequent years).

Raphael has been taking sick and disabled pilgrims to Lourdes for more than 50 years. Our ‘family’ of about 150, (doctors, nurses, handmaids, brancardier and, of course, sick and disabled), come together from many parts of the UK and beyond, meeting in Lourdes for five days in September each year.

The trustees wish to take this opportunity of planning for the future of the Pilgrimage by seeking new ways of promoting and developing the vision first given to us by Leonard Cheshire of taking ‘the sick and disabled to Lourdes, to care for them in every way during the pilgrimage.’

We are also seeking a voluntary Administrative Assistant to support the Director in this role. Good communication and IT skills will be key for this support post.

If you are interested in either role then please request an information pack:

Deacon Chris Blackman, Trustee, The Raphael Pilgrimage, 10, Foxburrow Close, Sutton, Witney, OX29 5SH or by email:
chrisblackman@freenet.co.uk.
Closing date: Friday 17th October 2008; Interview: Sunday 9th November 2008
www.raphaelpilgrimage.org.uk

Raphael, unlike most other pilgrimages...

...aims to be 100% working pilgrimage.
That is, we take only sick pilgrims and those who care for them (helpers of every kind - priests, deacon, doctors, nurses, male lay helpers ("brancardiers") and female lay helpers ("handmaids"). If you are applying to come as a helper you must be prepared to roll up your sleeves! We take enormous pride in the loving care of our sick pilgrims, and we are regarded very highly indeed by the Lourdes 'Authority' (the Hospitalite) for our standards of both professional and practical organisation. Being small we can keep a good 'family feeling'.
