Message from our Director (September 2011)

Paul Affleck, our Director, wrote to all our pilgrims following this year's pilgrimage
The theme of his letter was much to do about us all being 'ambassadors for Lourdes'.
The full text can be found under 'Director of Operations'

Raphael, unlike most other pilgrimages...

...aims to be 100% working pilgrimage.
That is, we take only sick pilgrims and those who care for them (helpers of every kind - priests, deacons, doctors, nurses, male lay helpers ("brancardiers") and female lay helpers ("handmaids"). If you are applying to come as a helper you must be prepared to roll up your sleeves! We take enormous pride in the loving care of our sick pilgrims, and we are regarded very highly indeed by the authorities in Lourdes, both the Sanctuary and the Hospitalité, for our standards of both professional and practical organisation. Being relatively small we maintain a good 'family feeling'.

Planning for the future

How to move forward?

If you have any views or ideas especially on how Raphael can meet the challenges that the pilgrimage faces in the future, or if you think you can play a more active role in the pilgrimage either in the preparation before the pilgrimage and/or actually at Lourdes as an active helper then make contact with the chair of trustees on
trustees@raphaelpilgrimage.org.uk
if it is to do with the management of the charity,
or, alternatively
director@raphaelpilgrimage.org.uk
if it is to do with the management of our pilgrimage to Lourdes.

We welcome new helpers!
