New Parish Hall - May 2003 and the launch ....

...of our fund raising efforts.

Plans were displayed...

...in a marquee outside

We have planning permission...

...and hope to start soon.

Much hard work...

...has gone into bringing the project forward.

We even had a bouncy castle...

...for the kids!

The work has started!

Behind the boiler were all these pipes, so Billy and John pulled them out.

But you need the right tools...

...as well as brains!!

Why We Need a Parish Hall?

We all belong to the community of St Anthony of Padua, Oxford and it is our responsibility to contribute to our community in ways that benefit us all. Having a parish hall will enable us to continue to grow together and strengthen our lives with faith.

The hall will accommodate:

* Parish gatherings and social events (after-mass coffee, luncheon clubs, bazaar and fetes, performances, parish evenings, quiz-nights)

* Parish group meetings (Parish Council, sacramental preparation, liturgy and instructional groups, fathers' and women's groups).

* Celebrations (baptisms, birthdays, 1st Holy Communion).

* Youth work (from mun's and toddlers to teens).

* Hospitality and outreach

And many more

How Much Money Do We Have To Raise?

The cost will be about £200,000.

We can start building when we have about half of this amount as promises, or, cash in the bank. The remainder can be borrowed from the Diocese, to be repaid over 10 years.

We want to reach our halfway target as soon as possible.

The total amount of money raised from various parish activities, private donations and long-term pleges is £60,000.

In addition to these sources of funds, we will be able to claim £10,000 - £80,000 back from the Inland Revenue, depending on how many taxpayers are able to contribute and sign a Gift Aid form. We will also apply for local and national grants and business and charitiable donations.

We are writing to other parishes in the diocese to ask for their benevolence in helping us get the project started through their prayers and financial assistance where possible.
