Re: Re-enactment of the Battle of Naseby, 1645
We just got back from the Sealed Knot anniversary event at Kelmarsh Hall in Northamptonshire where we re-enacted the Battle of Naseby.
It was a hectic weekend, with a number of battles and displays spread over three days. We were involved in just about everything, from demonstrations of how drums and colours were used in the 17th century, the Living History Camp, the battles themselves and Sacking the Royalist Baggage Train.
We had a number of new recruits to support through the weekend, some of last year’s recruits were at their first Major Muster - and we also had a number of members on temporary memberships trying us out for the first time. In the end we were struggling to find enough kit to go around, but with a little judicial borrowing from other regiments and some canny shopping from a couple of our members we just about managed it.
We got a few pictures and some video of the event, but seeing as we didn’t get back until late Monday evening, none of that has been put up on the website (www.earlrivers.org.uk) yet, although I would expect to get some pictures online next weekend.
The new recruits seemed to enjoy it though. Here are a couple of excerpts from our forum pages (http://earlriversadmin.proboards40.com)
