Windrush Vaulting group seeks new members
Windrush Vaulting Group is run by a group of dedicated mothers to enable children aged 6 - 19 to train to vault on horseback.
Our horse is lunged in a circle in walk or canter. The children mount from the floor onto the back of the horse, where they perform gymnastic movements either singly, in pairs, or in a team. We have been very successful in the past, winning competitions at National level, and also representing our country abroad.
We are fortunate enough to have what we consider to be the best trainer in the country - Katherin Townsend to teach the children. Together with her two daughters, Rebecca, and Louise, who help train the children also. Both of whom are former vaulting champions themselves.
We meet every Wednesday at the Unicorn Trust at Stow on the Wold and draw members from Oxfordshire, Warwickshire and Gloucestershire. Vaulting is a relatively inexpensive horse-sport as we all share the costs of running and maintaining the horses, and of course hire of the school.
You do not need to have any past experience at vaulting, merely an enthusiastic approach. We will teach you everything you need to know, and through training, you will become fit enough to carry the moves out confidently and gracefully.
We have both boys and girls in our team, which currently consists of 15 member vaulters.
If you would like to join us, then please feel free to write to me by email, and I will reply as soon as I receive your message.
The first taster session is free at the moment, so hurry, get in touch and soon you'll be vaulting your socks off, making new friends, and thoroughly enjoying yourself in the process!
