Picture Page A:
Welcome to my first Picture Page, featuring some of the subjects that you have been reading about in my stories. I suppose that they will bring back memories to many people........ |
..
My old Meccano Outfit was handed down in the family. |
..
 | | The 'Mobo Horse', which turned every child of the day into a real cowboy, liked we saw regularly on the silver screen. |
|
..
 | | This is Eastwood, in Nottinghamshire, just four miles from where I live. On the right of the drawing is The Empire Cinema, where it is said, a murder was once comitted. |
|
..
Twice a year the fair would come to Heanor. 'Hollands Scenic Dragon's' were always popular, and here they are photographed in front of the old 'Co-Op' buildings; then called 'Cohen's Penny Bazzar'.
| |
|
..
 | | Here's a nice photograph of British film star Lana Morris, who visited the Heanor 'Empire' in the 1950s;along with several other stars to promote and publicise films. |
|
..
| This is 'The Flying Bedstead', the forerunner of Vertical Take-off planes. It was developed and tested at Hucknall Aerodrome, where we used to go 'plane-spotting' as kids. | |
|
..
| The Austin A30 car, similar to the one I learned to drive in; lessons were cheap then; and so was petrol! | |
|
..
 | | Brian Warner, who worked with me at Coppice Colliery. On hot summer evenings we used to go and sit on top of the 'Water-softner' that was in the wood yard. |
|
..
 | | The 'Midland Electric Theatre' that stood on Babbington Lane, in Derby. No I'm not old enough to remember it like this; but I do remember when it was modenised over the years. |
|
..
Two more buddies from the time I spent at 'Coppice Colliery'. Left is Norman Rouse, and right is Alan Grace.
|
..
 | This is me, at the age of sixteen, when I had a lot more hair then. Just after this photograph was taken I grew my hair longer (so I could have my 'Tony Curtis), and put on some weight.

Memories of Aldercar Hall
 | Here's a picture of Aldercar Hall taken in the 1950s; the building suffered badly from mining subsidence and was later demolished.
