ENJOY THE GARDEN
 | Ann, our Garden Manager, and her staff pride themselves on the warm welcome extended to visitors old and new. The Helmsley Walled Garden is a natural amphitheatre set against the backdrop of Helmsley Castle and has towering walls which surround 5 acres of lovingly cared for gardens that are home to many wonderful horticultural surprises and an award winning vegetarian cafeteria. Among our many attractions you will find the Yorkshire Apple seed bank and we are soon to turn our attention to the creation of a unique applegramme that will chart the history of apple growing in the White Rose County. As part of our visitor programmes we welcome local groups and Societies for evening visits, details of which you can find on our official website at www.helmsleywalledgarden.org.uk. Our photograph shows members of the Ryedale Aquarist Society (www.ryedaleaquaristsociety.co.uk) enjoying a recent evening visit. HWG also plays a vital role in the Ryedale community with its adult learning and horticultural therapy facilities. Volunteers for a whole host of gardening projects are always made welcome and if you would like to come and see how these projects work then make your way to the Gift Shop (were we mainly sell locally produced craft and food items) and ask to speak with either Ann or Lindsay who will gladly answer your questions and, hopefully, enrol you into our volunteer team. |
