Rain Rain Rain Rain
May 13th Home V Ebberston Having lost the toss, Haines and Gradner added 48 for the first wicket, Robson failed but Bayes and Haines rebiult and put Kirby in a good position for 200 plus, however a poor show by the lower middle order left KMS short on 179 with Dobson unbeaten on 33.
Kirby dropped dangerman Dave Woodhead first ball and he plundered 48, however Kirby where let down by the lack of authority by the umpires during rain and some dubious LBW decissions being turned down. Gardner and Mudd crawled Kirby back into it before Ebberston snuck over the winning line.
Kirby will b back
May 6th Away v Foords Due to a few late withdrawals the moorsiders again travelled with a weakened team. They arrived early and set about a thorough warm up preparing them for the tricky fixtures with Foords. Having Lost the toss the Moorisders where stuck in the field. Foords moved along steadily against some indifferent bowling from Harding in particular, However Marley took an excellent slip catch off Ward to start the Moorsiders revival. Bowes and Burrel moved the score on to seventy before Veteran Mudd with his first bowl of the season dismissed Bowes. Having been given more responsibility this season David G removed Burrel. This allowed the Moorsiders to steadily grab wickets and keep this tight with Ravi and Big H stiking. However a steady shower of rain dampened the wicket and the ball became hard to hold, however the reintroduction of Ward and Gardner soon wrapped up the tail, both recording excellent 4 for returns. Foords closing on 146 all out.
The Moorsiders started weel putting 35 on for the first wicket with Haines pulling well, until Gardner fell for a positive 22. This brought Robson and Haines together and the former being staedy to begin with before getting into his usual attacking manner, being particularly severe on anything short and using his feet to the spinners in positive fashion. Both Players reached there fifties, Haines first one for KMS on a Sat before both fell looking to finish the game before the rains came. Bayes and the vetran Marley saw KMS home by 7wkts with 20 overs remaining. The moorsiders are looking forward to this weeks fixture with Ebberston yet again a top of the table clash.
Having arriver early at the newly improved Flamborough ground, the KMS players looked smart in their new shirts sponsored by the White Swan (AKA MArley Arms) David G decided to create a fielding drill warm up which went down a treat with the players. Shock took them as Top Tosser Jodie won the first toss of the season and inserted Flamborough. Flamborough started brightly on a very well covered grass wicket until Harding struck. This continued to be the case as KMS hung onto evry chance and Flamborough struggled on 60 for 5, a patient knock of 19 but youngster Cooper held up KMS until Gardner struck with both ball in hand and an excellent run out. Ward got his first wicket of the season thanks to good work by Robson behind the stumps. Flamborough closed all out on 100 after good fielding by Walker in particular.
The Moorisders enjoyed teas until Haines yet again perished early failing to fulfill his immense talent, however thi spoor un must change as he is too good a player. However this loss brought a feeling of same old same old as Robson and Gardner set about putting on 78 for the second wickt, Gardner looking awesome through the cover area, and robson drivng and clipping off his legs in custom fashion. Gardner fell to the Leg spinner before Robson and Asda Rivis closed the game out in the fifteenth over with Robson unbaten on 49. Things look promising for the next game away V Foords |
