Sports Day July 1969?

"A group of competitors at the Malton Grammar School sports day on Wednesday. Left to right: D. Jennings, B. Dalton, K. Wiggle, T. Pickard, O. Roberts, I. Kneeshaw and S. Wilford."
I have guessed at the date, but it could also be 1970.

Daffodil Planting November 1972

"More than 5.000 daffodil bulbs were planted in roadside verges in Malton on Tuesday by sixth form pupils of Malton School.
The daffodils are a memorial to Mr. Philip Taylor, headmaster of Malton GS for 20 years and the first headmaster of Malton Comprehensive School, who died a year ago.
A memorial fund was opened earlier this year, and £200 was subscribed. Just over 6,000 good quality bulbs have been bought with the money from a local nursery. About a thousand bulbs remain to be planted as soon as they are available. Tuesday’s plantings were carried out by 90 sixth formers supervised by about eight teachers.
It is believed to be the biggest bulb planting operation ever carried out in Malton, and has been undertaken with the co-operation of the North Riding Highways Department."

The report does not mention that the money was donated by Mr. Taylor's widow, Constance Taylor. Mrs. Taylor continues to donate money for bulb replenishment and this is taken care of by our former teacher and later deputy headmaster Philip Mason.

Memorial Plaque early 1973?

"Mr. J. D. Gresswell, headmaster of Malton Comprehensive School, shows sixth formers Paul Goacher and Stephen Cowham a plaque in memory of Mr. Philip T. Taylor, who was headmaster from 1951-71. The plaque was presented to the school governors by Mr. Taylor's widow, who now lives in Nottingham."
Stephen Cowham is in the middle with Paul Goacher on the right.
The photo will have been taken sometime in early 1973.
For more information about this plaque go to the "Daffodils in Memory of Mr. Taylor" section.

Pygmalion April 1973

"Pupils of Malton School are presenting George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion from tonight to Friday. From the left are: Linda Andrew, Christine Oxtoby, Valerie Hickes, Christine Brewer and Susan Read."

Exam Results August 1972

I am not too sure when this article was published nor in which newspaper, but it must have been late August 1972.
The list includes the "O" Level and CSE results, including the Maths and English Language "O" Levels we had taken the previous year at the end of the 4th Year.

Exam Results August 1974

Again, I am not too sure of the date and newspaper, but it was probably the Yorkshire Evening Press. As the results were announced sometime in August during the Summer Holidays I am assuming the report was published soon after that.
