Duke ( Calder Duke: 15.1.95 - 7.12.02)

Duke was our first greyhound. He was handed in for rehoming after being retired from racing in March 1999. He came to live with us in September of that year.

As Duke settled his personality developed. He became a real character. He loved his walks, especially if we met anybody who would fuss him - he would nudge them with his nose if they tried to ignore him! We always had to walk a circular route as he would not turn round to go back home and we had to cross the road at exactly the same place each time. He loved playing with squeaky toys and lying out in the garden.

Sadly in August 2002 he developed a very aggressive bone cancer and died three and a half months later. He is very much missed.

Cliff

Cliff came to live with us on 27 March 2001 aged approximately two and a half. He had been found wandering the streets a year previously, had been rehomed then handed back in to the kennels after six months in a home.
He was described by the kennels as boisterous - and he was, but he soon settled into our routine. Cliff loves to run round the garden fetching his ball and going for walks, but then is happy to lie and sleep in his bed - like most greyhounds.

Pancho (Wet Sea)

Pancho has lived with us since 9 March 2003. He is a six year old ex-racer who had always lived in kennels. He became housetrained very easily and is enjoying life as a pet.

At first he would look at amazement at everything, both inside and outside. He was fascinated by the television and birds singing in the trees outside - tilting his head to one side when he came across something new. He is still convinced there is a greyhound living inside our television and keeps looking behind it, to see where the dog has gone!
Pancho loves to play in the garden, and will retrieve his ball as many times as someone is prepared to throw it for him.

Squirrel

Squirrel came to stay with Cliff and Pancho as a temporary measure but she has now become a permanent member of the family.
