The Kirk Theatre 25th Anniversary
It is 25 years since the Pickering Musical Society opened The Kirk Theatre. The Society itself was founded at the beginning of the 20th century and performed its shows at venues such as the Memorial Hall. In the 1970s they were given the chance to purchase the old Methodist chapel in Hungate, Pickering. With the help of grants and donations, a working group, known as The Beavers, set to work renovating and converting the old chapel into a community theatre. This year we are looking for anyone who may have been involved with the theatre to contact the Society and let us have their memories of the time they spent with the Society. Maybe you would like to join us in our 25th anniversary show, which will be a collection of songs and other bits from shows we have presented over the last 25 years? If you would like to share your memories, please contact Linda Tester, our Publicity Manager either through this website or on 01751 471553. To join us, please ring society Secretary, Jane Sampson on 01751 477355. Join the celebration! |
