Summer events for 5-12 year olds

The festival - led by Ryedale’s Child and Youth Projects and Ryedale District Council and supported by Thornton-le-Dale Parish Council, the Northern Rock Foundation, Helmsley Town Council, Norton Town Council, Yorkshire Arts, The Children’s Fund, and Ronald McDonald Children’s Charities - was packed with activities for 5-12 year olds at venues throughout the district. Separate workshops were also organised for the 10-16 year olds. Coun Brian Cottam, Vice-Chairman of Ryedale District Council, helped to launch the programme of events on Thursday 4th July at Thornton le Dale School. "I am delighted to be involved in this festival which I am sure will provide the ideal way for many young people to develop their creativity and spend their summer holidays," he said. 1059 children and young people accessed this provision which culminated in two art exhibitions at the end of the summer. The workshops included Recycling made fun through Art, Didgeridoo, Circus Skills, Fun with Felt, Drama, Street Dancing, and two days music through the Pied Piper. A great time was had by all and we look forward to next summer!
