WHO WE ARE
 | The Ryedale Aquarist Society was formed in February 1985 in order to provide a means for Aquarists' in the Ryedale area to meet, on a monthly basis, and discuss tropical freshwater fish, marine fish, goldfish and Koi.
We are affiliated to both the Yorkshire Association of Aquarist Societies and the Federation of British Aquatic Societies. We also have many friends in the Tyne Tees Area Association F.B.A.S., the F.N.A.S. and Scottish Associations. Some of our members have an individaul membership to the Association of Aquarists'.
As from 1st January 2008 we formed a 'twinning' with the South Tyneside Aquarist, Marine and Pondkeepers Society (STAMPS), which is based in South Shields.
We meet at the Bay Horse Hotel Pickering (see meetings page for further details) and can assure any potential members of a warm welcome. We also arrange visits to local aquarium retail outlets and tourist attractions.
One of the highlights of our year is the annual Open Show, for which we are joined by Aquarists' from around the U.K. Our 2007 Open Show was another huge success and a full photographic report can be found on our official website.
As you will see from our Communigate pages we produce our own monthly magazine called Ryedale Reporter and have a well stocked articles section on our official website giving details of many aquarium subjects.
Our photograph, which comes courtesy of Mrs. A. Kenworthy, shows our members and friends on a visit to the beautiful Helmsley Walled Garden, June 2006
