ADVANCE NOTICE - 2009 OPEN SHOW SUNDAY 26th APRIL

2008 Our annual aquarium fish Open Show, which was held at the Pickering Centre of Askham Bryan College on Sunday 27th April 2008, proved to be another big success. A total of 227 entries were spread over the 45 Classes, which covered the full range of tropical freshwater and coldwater fish species. The main prize winners were as follows:- Best in Show - Mr. R. Blackburn (Castleford Aquarist Society) with a Akysis prahadi. Best Exhibit - Mr. R. Blackburn (Castleford A.S.) with a pair of Akysis boramensis. Best Goldfish - Mr. J. Howarth (Select A.S.) Best Junior - Miss A. Charters (STAMPS) During judging an auction of spare aquatic items, which drew a total of 22 'lots', was held. So many Aquarists' packed into the main hall for this part of the event that no seating or standing room was left. Along with exhibitors and seasoned Aquarists', who travelled from all corners of the U.K., we also had a number of interested visitors from the Ryedale area and we thank you for showing such an interest in our Show. Most travelled visitor was Mr. Egon Krasa who travelled all the way from the German town of Russellsheim to be with us. Thank you to our small army of helpers from both the Y.A.A.S. and T.T.A.A.F.B.A.S. for all their help on the day, to all our exhibitors for bringing along their fish, to the people who brought auction 'lots' and all our friends old and new who came along to enjoy a splendid day.
