Do you love dogs but cannot commit to one full-time??
At Ryedale Dog Rescue it is our belief that dogs settle better in foster care than they would in kennels and we are therefore trying to build up a number of reliable foster carers to step in when the need arises. Many people have told us that they would love a dog but due to other commitments/holidays/expense etc. they could not adopt a dog. We feel we may have the solution as we are looking for foster carers to look after our dogs for short periods whilst we find them a permanent home
|
Are you worried about becoming too attached?
This is a genuine concern and yes you will become attached as would any dog lover.
Some foster carers would therefore only want to look after a dog for short periods and we will take this into consideration and if necessary move the dog to another carer or try to place a dog with "good re-homing potential" with them.
We would however ask all our foster carers to remember:
WHEN ONE DOG IS RE-HOMED THIS MEANS WE CAN SAVE ANOTHER DOG AND THIS IS THANKS TO YOU!!!!!!

WHAT IS INVOLVED?
Before we place a dog in your care we will visit you to discuss your and our needs and check that there are no concerns on either side.
We will provide you with bedding, lead and collar and dog food and we will remain responsible for vets bills.
A member of Ryedale Dog Rescue will become your "mentor" and will build up a relationship with you so that there is always somebody to turn to for advice and assistance.
In return we ask you to treat our dog as a family pet, keeping him/her fully socialised.
All our dogs are vaccinated and will eventually be micro-chipped and neutered.
