Talking about peace over the War Weekend
Ryedale Evangelical Church were busy talking about peace over the War Weekend.
Beginning with the 'Goodnews' table in the Market Place on Friday afternoon opportunity was taken to speak with visitors and residents alike about the good news that peace was possible with God.
Then on Saturday, they had 6 showings of the video documentary, 'Zamperini, Still Carrying The Torch' to 145 people in the Public Library.
The documentary tells the story of Louis Zamperini, who as an athlete in the 1936 olympic games met Adolf Hitler. When he later joined the US Air Force he was shot down and captured by the Japenese who held him as a prisoner of war for two and a half years. After the War he found peace with God and went back to Japan where he forgave his prison camp jailors.
In his own words 'the greatest challenge he ever faced was that of finding peace with God through Jesus Christ.' |
