Fund raising achieves first target
 | On the 4th December 2001 our team gave their first demonstration at Ampleforth College pool.
The girls, aged between 7 - 14 years had been training for the event since July and dispite some first night nerves went on to give a first class performance. They are working towards achieving the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) Synchronised Swimming qualification. Several stages towards this goal have now been accomplished, resulting in the girls skills being tested and developed along the way.
For the girls to be able to hear the music they were performing to underwater, special speakers were needed. We are very pleased to announce that we are now in a position to afford this equipment and we would like to thank everyone that contributed.
We would especially like to thank the Gazette & Herald for their enthusiastic support when we first launched our fundraising campaign, and to Geoff Thurman of Ampleforth College for his backing and encouragement.
Our next objective is to compete against other teams, so if anyone is interested in joining our club please do so via the e-mail link on the left or by calling 01439 766740 and asking for Jane or Paula.
Don't forget our training sessions times are shown on the welcome page and all are welcome whether to join in or just to come and cheer! |
