Round the World in a Day - Latest 16/07/08

¡Hola amigos! El Magnifico Siete (seven Rotary walkers: Pat, David, Peter & Jane, Tony & Pieta and yours truly) and Los Tres Amigos (three Rotary marshals: Campbell, Eric and Frank) took part with a supporting cast of nearly 120 from the Brighton Metropole, Ovingdean Hall School and the Dame Vera Lynn Trust in what turned out to be a successful sponsored walk organised by the Hilton Brighton Metropole Hotel along the Brighton & Hove seafront on 29th June.

The money is still coming in, so final figures are not yet available, but we do know that participants at 70 Hilton hotels covered over 26,000 miles, comfortably passing the 24,902 miles target. The Brighton Metropole team challenge participants covered 575 miles on their exercise bikes and the walkers (including El Magnifico Siete) covered 515 miles, a total of 1,090 miles which put us in 3rd place in the country. ¡Caramba!

Cheques for the funds raised will be presented in due course to Ovingdean Hall School and the Dame Vera Lynn Trust. Mil gracias to all who took part, and especially to Rotarian and Metropole Hotel General Manager Anne Busfield who invited us to participate.
