Mental Health : Initiatives are helping (27.10.02)
The Middy of 24.10.02 reports 'that provision for people with mental health problems in Mid Sussex has improved thanks to a number of initiatives.
In Burgess Hill, Millhaven is a drop-in social centre where people can come and relax when they wish and participate in arts and crafts in the afternoons and evenings.
Haywards Heath has a drop-in club run by Sussex Oakleaf Housing Association (SOHA), open 3 days a week from 6pm to 9 pm.
Ben Taylor, Community Development Worker says ' The meeting place is an invaluable resource for social support and the prevention of social isolation. SOHA also coordinates the provision of taster adult education courses and 'this can provide an important stepping stone back into education'. JH |
