The Alberta Brothers (21.7.02)
Larry Fisher writes following a visit to Vancouver :
'Teresa and I have recently returned from a fantastic holiday to Vancouver. Following a few days there we toured through the Canadian Rockies visiting Jasper, the columbia Icefield and Banff. Our official tour ended in Calgary. We then had arranged to meet up with Lenny Sergeant and we had a wonderful time at his home in Ponoka. Lenny and I were in training together from '65 to '68. After all those years I at last had the chance to meet up with his wife, Lorraine, and set her straight about his past history at St Francis. It was noticeable that when Lenny attended the '97 Reunion he left Lorraine at home.
During the time we spent in Ponoka, Lenny gave us a guided tour of the local psychiatric hospital which is being demolished and rebuilt unit by unit to provide a state of the art facility. In the Education Dept we met up with the education boss - none other than Winston Forde.
That evening we all got together at Lenny's house and were joined by Winston's wife Liah, Aidan Donoghoe and his wife Irene. One might say we had a mini Reunion. We had a fantastic time and could not have been made more welcome. I can certainly report that the St Francis connection is alive and well in Ponoka, Alberta. Thank you Lenny for making us all feel so at home. Larry Fisher. ' JH |
