The recent death of Cliff Forster (July 2003)
15.7.03
Just before taking a short break in Ireland recently I heard that Cliff had been taken ill. On my return he had died and I was shocked at the passing of a man who represented St Francis, and all it stood for, so well. I had several close encounters with Cliff and always found him approachable, direct, professional and understanding.
On the beautiful Summer day of his funeral at Newick Church and his burial later in the Church graveyard I met many colleagues who were sad at his passing but who smiled for having known the man.Amongst those I met on the day were Norman Barrow, Paddy Henry, Bill Golunski, Margaret Lewis, Joan Bishop, Brian Pate, Mike Thorpe, Jim Whelan, Jim Umpleby, Mike Boland and his wife, Janet Francois and many more.
Afterwards, at the Five Bells at Chailey where the family invited us we were wined and dined. There was much chat, remembering, sadness and lots of laughter. Cliff Forster made a difference and our condolences go out to his wife and Geoff and all the family.
Geoff, his son, who trained and worked at St Francis sent me on a very good piece which follows. Thank you Geoff and may your father rest in peace. |
