Reg says cheerio!
 | Reg Cook said his goodbyes (can he be believed?) to the service on Friday the 8th February 2002 in the Social Club in a farewell tribute marking his retirement from the nursing service after 30 years. Tributes from Brian Pate, Ernest Robinson and fond comments from Reg himself together with an enjoyable buffet, raised spirits on a dull February afternoon. Brian exposed some tasty titbits from Reg's photographic past and his celluloid obsession with Avril Lundberg - all now replaced with a longing for his trusty caravan - Oh Reg! Where did you go wrong? Reg had a broad career in nursing from hospital to community and experienced its ups and downs at a time of controversial and historical change. Ernest paid tribute to his work, particularly in the last year, at Linwood Mental Health Centre.
Reg received many farewell gifts and thanked everyone - paying particular tribute to the late John Barry whose standards were never surpassed at St Francis - and Reg was last seen disappearing towards the Cornish peninsula clasping several empty bottles of vino! Sue, his wife, received a beautiful floral arrangement and the Friends of St Francis wish Reg a long and happy retirement, good health and a hope that he keeps his cravan safely in the inner lane at all times so that the rest of us can get on with using the motorways! Good luck Reg. JH
