Go ahead for Mental Health Unit and 89 homes (Jan '07)
A lengthy battle to build a mental health unit and 89 homes on the former St Francis Hospital site has recently drawn to aclose with the plans getting the green light. The Mid Sussex Times reports that the West Sussex and Social Care and Sussex pertnership NHS Trusts offered the council £700,000 as well as land that could be used to replace the Norman Hay Hall which will be demolished as part of the scheme.
The £7million Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) centre is expected to be completed by the summer of 2008 when it will become a base for specialist teams who will help children at home and will provide inpatient and eductaion facilities serving patients from Brighton, Hove, East and West Sussex. |
