May 2003 Visit to Seaford

30 visitors from Bonningstedt and Crivitz were in Seaford from 23 - 26 May, including both Town Mayors. Seaford also has a new Mayor following the 1 May elections! The picture shows Mayors of Seaford, Newhaven, Bonningstedt and Crivitz, with their joint Town Crier, at the flag raising ceremony on 25 May. Visitors arrived at Heathrow on 23 May and had a day free in Seaford with their hosts. The White Lion was the venue for an informal gathering that evening. On Saturday 24 there was an all day visit to the Tenterden Vineyard with Ploughman's Lunch, the streets of historic Tenterden, the Kent & Sussex Railway taking the party to Bodiam, and home. Evening with hosts. Sunday 25 saw the group participate in the delights of the Seahaven Maritime Festival (including the Seaside Award flagraising, Duathlon and Open Air Service on the Bonningstedt Promenade in Seaford and the celebrations surrounding 200 years as a Lifeboat Station in Newhaven). The evening boasted a Concert by the Seaford Silver Band, followed by a Dinner, both at the Constitutional Club. Monday 26 was a free day with hosts until the coach departed for Heathrow at 4.00 The two Committees met to plan the 20th. Anniversary of the Twinning celebrations, in Bonningstedt in May 2004, to which a party including the Silver Band would be going.
