ST GEORGES YOUTH GROUP

St Georges youth group was set up by a group of residents from the Moulsecoomb estate in October 2000.These residents were Mandy Chapman, Pauline Rowland, Angie Hayward, Lyn (we dont know her surname :) ) These are all voluntary workers. It was set up by local residents to reduce the risk of young people committing any crime in the area. Since starting, we have recieved several grants from New Deals, community chest. We have brought a new computer, a hifi system, pool table, and several small pieces of equipment for the children to use. We have had several outings e.g go karting, bowlings, lazer quest, a 3 day camping trip 2 Blacklands farm where we did outdoor persuits with the children, canoeing, kayaking, team buliding. The weather was awful but that made it even more enjoyable!
In june of this year we set up a football team called Moulsecoomb Fc. this was with the help of Glyn Griffiths, who we met in the wild park. Glyn has since become the coach for the football team. Tim Whittington has since joined as out club referee. We are now training at the Sussex University all weather pitch every wednesday evening before the local youth group at st georges hall. we shall soon be having our first football match in the sussex sunday under 16 league... watch this space for further news!
At the moment we are busy planning activites for the christmas and the holiday for the children to take part in.
