About STONE CROSS MEMORIAL HALL

STONE CROSS MEMORIAL HALL(registered charity 305326) 84 years old on 28th October 2007
Set at the crossroads where the B2104 joins Dittons Road, in Stone Cross, many people assume that this is the church hall for St Lukes. In fact this Hall was built and given to the local inhabitants by Maud Eleanor Cunliffe Smith , who as rumour has it,was a somewhat eccentric lady! Perhaps not so much eccentric as ahead of her time, for she decreed that the Hall should be used by “persons of either sex without distinction of class or opinion” The management of the Hall was placed in the hands of a committee of Trustees and still continues to serve the local community by supplying a venue for a variety of activities. There are two rooms available for hire, the main Hall and a smaller Hall, known as "The Harris Room" named after a local man who served as Treasurer for many years. The Hall is a popular venue for local societies and most weekday evenings are booked on a regular basis but contact our Booking Secretary for availability of weekend slots. There is a small kitchen ( cups and saucers supplied free of charge) and the usual complement of trestle table, large and small, together with chairs.
