When I received The Gift, as a potential CD-ROM to review for the No Panic newsletter I was intrigued.This CD-ROM is for use on the computer. To me the computer has never represented a tool for relaxation, so I was a little unsure how effective this would be. However, I sat back to watch and listen with an open mind.

The CR-OM took a few moments to begin, and then a wonderful picture emerged of a sunset over the mountains with the ripples of the water reflecting the birds flying overhead. Gentle music plays in the background as Stuarts warm; comforting voice begins the relaxation, asking us to ‘simply become aware of the breath.’ He tells us that ‘when we are anxious, upset, angry or depressed, to just breathe – a healing is about to begin.Stuart then takes us slowly and calmly through a breathing exercise, which I found so easy to focus on and gradually starts the relaxation process. Whatever your worries, says Stuart ‘this too will pass, always has, always does and always will. This he says is the tool to begin to heal your life.

Within minutes I found The Gift to be quite mesmeric, I had forgotten the computer, I just sat back in the chair and became engrossed in this thirty five minute experience.& I have listened to this CD-ROM many times since. In fact this book review has taken me longer than I anticipated because I played it once again.

So, how could The Gift be of use to you? Of course you can use it at home, but also on your laptop, so it becomes portable to use wherever you chose. If you are feeling stressed or anxious at work, you could relax in your lunch break or make use of the special MP3 version of the audio from this presentation which is available for use on MP3 players.

Stuart uses affirmations. In the leaflet that comes with The Gift, twenty affirmations are listed, all of which are to be found inside the CD case. Stuart says that ‘love is the only true healing balm, so apply it when necessary’ and ‘I am choosing to delete any negative programming and override it with kindness, gentleness and trust in the process of life, a healing has begun.’

I found the gift to be amazing! I was feeling very stressed and anxious generally in my day to day life, and had not found a really effective way to relax, until i tried The Gift.

Stuart uses a relaxing visual backdrop that of a sunset and a lake, the sun reflects the ripples in the water, and birds fly gently across the peaceful background mountains. The scene is very relaxing and can be viewed on the computer screen

while listening to the audio. You can also use the mp3 version which is contained in the package on its own.

The Audio is a series of Affirmations repeated very slowly and gently, they contain positive statements which in time will heal the soul and remove any negativity.

Stuart teaches a breathing exercise which should be followed very gently, I found that after continuing with the breathing for around 20 minutes my whole body began to relax and i began to feel very peaceful and contented.

The feeling of relaxation also seemed to stay with me throughout the day, or if I used the gift at night i would drift into a relaxing sleep. I began to realize that when I was relaxed, my whole world seemed different in a positive way.
