Jane Eyre, A Musical Drama The classic Charlotte Brontë story of the British governess, Jane Eyre, has entertained and inspired generations, making it one of the truly great love stories of all time and it certainly makes a dramatic storyline for a Broadway musical. True to its 19th century origins, Jane Eyre is a lavish Victorian banquet of emotions; passion, cruelty, revenge, repression, courage, emotional and physical abuse, faith and forgiveness, and love - most of all the eternal healing power of an all-consuming love. Jane’s story is that of a plain yet spirited girl, orphaned at an early age, who becomes governess at Thornfield Hall, where she falls in love with Edward Fairfax Rochester, the master of the house. Though Jane’s sharp wit and defiant nature clash with Rochester’s temperament, the two quickly develop a deep bond. But Rochester’s past, a dark secret imprisoned at Thornfield, threatens to destroy their love just as it begins, as it ultimately destroys Thornfield Hall itself. This amateur production was presented by arrangement with Josef Weinberger Ltd. on behalf of Music Theatre International of New York. We are delighted that this has been another sell-out performance, but are sorry if you did not manage to get tickets this time. If you wish to be added to our mailing list for future shows, then please use the Email form to send us your details.

Spring 2006
Our main spring show for 2006 was "The Mystery of Edwin Drood", by Rupert Holmes - first produced in 1986 when it won 5 Tony awards. It was a great fun (yes fun) show to do, with a surprise ending, ...but I can't say any more (shhhhhh) apart from it is billed as "The Solve-It-Yourself Broadway Musical" http://www.rupertholmes.com/theatre/drood.html is worth a look (and listen). An amateur production in association with Josef Weinberger.

Spring 2004 The Bakers Wife - The show was at the Pavilion Theatre, Brighton from 4 to 6 March 2004 (including a Saturday Matinee) This seemingly superficial story with it's superb score makes for delightful and tremendously moving entertainment.
