Sussex Resilience Forum
 Sussex Resilience Forum
Sussex Resilience Forum was formed in 2005 as a result of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004. It is a non-statutory, multi-agency organisation committed to making Sussex a safer place for the whole community.
The membership consists of each of the emergency services, National Health Service Trusts and PCTs, East and West Sussex County Authorities, Brighton and Hove Unitary Authority, each of the constituent districts and boroughs of Sussex, and government agencies and departments such as the Environment Agency, with comprehensive support from the Voluntary Sector. It consists of an Executive Committee, chaired by Assistant Chief Constable Olivia Pinkney, that currently meets quarterly to discuss priorities and review past incidents from a strategic point of view.
It receives reports and approves plans that have already been tried and tested via the Sussex Operations Group, chaired by West Sussex Chief Fire Officer Max Hood. This is the engine room of the organisation. Much of this work is informed by the 'Plan Status Report', which uses a 'traffic light' (Red- Amber- Green) system to graphically illustrate where we currently stand. Its information on priority tasks is dependent on the Community Risk Register which is regularly reviewed by professional emergency planners.
There are many sub-groups that work to produce and update these plans, which are then put through a rigorous training and exercising process before they are approved. We will strive to place the minutes online, sanitised as necessary if there are any confidentiality issues.
All of the above is contained within the SRF Business Plan . We also meet with other Local Resilience Forums in our region, South East England, to identify best practice. The Forum is supported by a business manager and administrative assistant.
It is now recognised by Central Government that we cannot do all we need to without the engagement of our community so we welcome any meaningful contacts from you, the public. |
