I joined Sussex Police as a PCSO in July 2004, prior to which I'd worked in administration. I decided to join Sussex Police as I wanted to do something valued in the community.
My role involves working with the public and local authorities - helping to build a safer environment, providing help and offering reassurance where needed.

PCSO Tamara Bennett.
I commenced my role as a PCSO in February 2004. My working life before was mainly centred around working with people who have learning disabilities, within special care units and activity centres. Joining Sussex Police enabled me to challenge myself and make use of my previous work experiences.
I was the Pcso for the parish of Wadhurst
I enjoyed being actively involved in the parish, building relationships with the local community, imparting information via Wadhurst Parish Council meetings, monthly Street Meetings, Neighbourhood Panel meetings, Residents Association meetings, Wadhurst Neighbourhood Watch, Primary Schools Working Lunches etc ... and most importantly being a visible presence out and about on foot patrol.
I will be listening to the needs of the people that I serve and working together with them to resolve the many diverse issues we are able to deal with as PCSOs.
I enjoy variety my role in the community provides, taking the initiative in dealing with new things on a daily basis - talking to people and feeling that you have been supportive, informative and contributed to crime prevention by daily patrolling.
