Clubs in the south west have a long tradition of involvement in the community and we are no exception. As well as flying the flag on the water our members also feature strongly in the local skittles, snooker and euchre leagues.
Known locally and throughout the south west as “The Reds” the club was founded in 1882 and has been on its present Manor Wharf site on The Quay since 1939.
The River Torridge, familiar to many via Williamson’s “Tarka the Otter”, is a tidal river which we share with fishing boats, small cargo vessels and recreational craft. The latter include those of the two other local rowing clubs - Bideford AAC (The Blues) and Grenville College BC.
We are a Project Oarsome club - one of the 50 rowing clubs entrusted with the delivery of this initiative to bring rowing into 100 State Schools. Our partners in this are Bideford College.
The club is easy to find - just ask for the main Post Office and when you get there you will see our boathouse next door.
