Councils, MP etc
Blackford is part of the Blackford & Compton Pauncefoot (B & CP) Parish Meeting - we have no Parish Council and meet twice a year in April & October. We therefore have limited powers - but it is still a useful forum.
B & CP is in the Blackmore Vale ward and Area East of South Somerset District Council which has main offices in Yeovil and local planning etc at Wincanton 01963 435000. Blackmore Vale has 2 ward district councilors (currently William Wallace & Tim Inglefield).
Blackmore Vale also has 1 County Councillor on Somerset County Council (currently William Wallace).
Blackmore Vale is part of the Somerton & Frome Constituency for Westminster. (current MP is David Heath).
Blackmore Vale is part of the South West constituency for Europe & we have 7 MEPs - you can contact any of them.

Services
Phone Box
We have a traditional red phone box in the centre of the village. Following a successful campaign in 2004 the phonebox was retained after BT proposed removing it. It remained under threat of removal if usage was not increased and BT again proposed to have it removed in 2008 but a successful application was made to English Heritage to have the box listed. It was listed Grade II in July 2008. The phone box is believed to be of a type known as the ‘K6’ or ‘Jubilee’ kiosk and was designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of King George the Fifth in 1935. Constructed in cast iron, it is the best known traditional kiosk.
Other Services We have no pub or shop. There is a daily milk delivery and also newspapers are delivered.
See also Reading Room (village hall) and church pages.
