Bridgwater Shopmobility was created by Bob Hill and Ray Lamb who are both disabled , four years ago on National Disabled Day .
They found that facilities for the disabled could be much inproved , so they set about raising money to buy mobility scooters and electric wheelchairs appealing for donations of cash or equipment untill they could open there doors .
THE AIM
To allow both long or short term disabled the chance of hireing for a very minimal charge eg. a mobility scooter or wheelchair..
And therefore allowing the disabled person to become enabled and independent once again.
The membership which is free has now swollen to over 600 personnel members and it also covers retirement and nursing homes in Bridgwater and the surounding area .
We regularly see members who come from all over the world holidaying in the area .Both Bridgwater Carnival and Fair are also very popular .
We are a completely non profit making charity and survive through very kind donations , grants and taking our tambola stall to local fetes and galas .
