CEMETERY WILL PROBABLY NOT CLOSE
A much healthier headline than that in the Somerset Standard on Thursday 18th April. We set up this site in order to publicise the fact that the Cemetery was there and that due to lack of resources it might have to close. Following support from many sources, the Grounds of the Cemetery are now beginning to look cared for. A number of visitors (and neighbours) have commented on how good it now looks. A number of people have visited and have been able to find the graves they sought, unlike a few years ago, when almost all were obscured by 5 feet high grass, nettles and weeds. One or two people have expressed their gratitude by sending donations. If anyone would like to contribute, donations can be sent to:

The transcription of the registers is taking place. Volume 1 (2032 entries) has been completed. Volume 2 (another 2000+ entries) - over 600 completed. Volume 3 (another 2000+) - over 700 completed. Volume 4 which is in a different format to the first three registers and covers the period 1960 to the prsent day. No entries for this have yet been transcribed. The annual Open Day, when the Registers will be available, takes place on Saturday, 31st August from 12 noon until 4 pm. There will also be a Service of Remembrance for all those at rest there, on Sunday 1st September at 3 pm. See the Calendar of Events |
