Will Madrid be a richer city for having the Beckhams in residence?
Yes, of course, they are fine people
No way, they are pondlife
Could I care less?
Far richer than if Alex Ferguson were moving there
Why does David like tictacs?
Yes but the move will seriously hamper Victoria's singing career
They might as well sign Celine Dion for all I care

Season 2005-06: the whole story

Sunday 31 July 2005
I GET KNOCKED DOWN, BUT I GET UP AGAIN
I like a whisky drink, I like a lager drink ... but best of all I like a bottle of bubbly that the losing finalists didn't hang around long enough to pick up.

We took two teams to Dartmouth, and were 50% of the entire Ladies' entry. Old Fallopians and Crazy Frog Exterminators were up against Make Mine A Pint (Totnes & Dartington SC, formerly Totnes Town) and the Seale Arms. Sadly through three last minute drop-outs but one extra we weren't really expecting, our total strength was nine between both teams. Fortunately Bazza and Gazza volunteered Lee to play in goal for both teams, with MMAP player Holly (ex-us) donning a pair of gloves when we played each other. Yeeeeeeaaaaah, thanks Baz & Gaz. Slightly confused Gary behind the mike finally agreed, when all teams involved OKed the plan. Sharon (in probably her swansong before bug*ering off to Kuwait, or Abu Dhabi, or Milton Keynes, or wherever it is), Lucy, Kelly and TQ4 Leanne made up Old Fallopians, with Eve, Hayley, Charlie and TQ14 Leanne playing as Crazy Frog Exterminators.

What happened during the league section? How should I know, I was playing in 9 of the 11 games. Frankly, after a while, they all started to feel the same, especially after making that cracking save with my nose.
Crazy Frog drew with Seale Arms, and beat them, but came second everywhere else. Old Fallopians kept a 100% record, beating last year's champions MMAP along the way. The organisers decided there was no point in playing the two finalists against each other in a second league game as it would change nothing. So after a quick shower of rain which made the surface more suitable for Torvill and Dean we had another encounter with MMAP. There was some pretty reasonable football going on, both sides, but the first half was goal-less.
In the second half we went ahead but in a classic you've been framed moment Lee's distance judgement went walkabout (shut up, right, I'm getting old) and Shazza couldn't get to the ball before one of the MMAP players did & the equaliser was scored.
Extra time saw us take the lead and hang on to it this time, and we reclaimed the cup after 12 months away. Well, we would have ... MMAP didn't actually bring it back with them, so they still have it, temporarily. Still, when we were presented with our winning bottle of bubbly, Gary gave us theirs as well, as they'd all left the building. Er, although they left as soon as the final was finished, so they never actually made it into the building in the first place. Is that splitting hairs? Or just drinking more bubbly? Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!

Still, all in all, a good start to the season, although TQ4 Leanne may not be trying another Haribo sandwich. The Haribo sogged up and the bread dried out, so not one for the Ready Steady Shoot book then. Shazza brought all the Haribo sweets she's confiscated since starting to teach in 1957, and they were all very nice except the Golden Clogs, the Corset Sours and the Tangfastic Oxbow Lakes.
