We are here for you ..
Welcome to the web site for the Maltese culture movement in the south-west of England.
The branch was started here in the south-west just over a year ago, planning events for the scattered Maltese community living in the region.
Unlike other ethnic groups living in the United Kingdom, the Maltese have integrated well into the British community, spreading themselves out and not clumping together.
To solve this problem the movement decided to hold regular events whereby Maltese people could get together a few times a year to celebrate feasts that were relevent to them, so now we celebrate Karnival, Imnarja as well as Easter, Christmas and New year.
The movement provides a service. There are some Maltese people living in the UK that have had no contact with other Maltese people for years, only getting the chance to speak their own language when talking to Family back in Malta or going there on holiday. By holding events the movement brings those people together even if only for a few hours, a couple of times a year. Through these events though, permenant, long term friendships are made.
